   I already planned on ordering one. They are mildly pricy, and my recent unpleasantness on the job front put a freeze on all unnecessary spending. But that is what I want to be wearing when, next spring, I start building the stone castle addition to Festung Buckethead. Wood is just too vulnerable to zombies.

   Right now, I’m favoring the Survivor version, but black is unavailable. I suppose I could get by on basil or tan.

   Although, getting a utilikilt means I have to get new boots…

   GL, did you realize that there is a utilikilt retailer in Albany?

   I did not realize they had a permanent presence in my neck of the wape.

   I did look over their events calendar though, and saw they’re going to be at events in Boston and Hartford over the next coupla months. That’s 3 avenues to seeing their stuff in person.

   They have boots in their online store, but frankly were a bit pricey. I think your Docs will be fine. Kickass belts, too, which were much more affordable.

   The Survivor is ok, I like the “modesty closure system” but am not sold on the utility of detachable pockets. I think I might go with a Workman’s though, which does indeed come in black but I prefer the tan.

   The boots are indeed pricy. But they look super. I do need boots, though, because my construction-type boots died long ago, and the only other boots I have are some not very comfortable second-hand jump boots.

   Finding a decent pair of Docs would likely be easier on the wallet, especially as I’m already thinking of dropping hundreds on a skirt.

   A manly skirt, though.

   A friend of mine, Mike, who I believe you met at the Festung Buckethead Grand Opening Party, has one. He loves it.

   I’m not sure I remember Mike- I’d have to see his face. I’d'a remembered a dude in a kilt, though.

   You ever try Corcoran IIs? I’ve had I think 2 pairs over the years (although not right this moment) and love ‘em. The II’s have the patent leather cap n toe (if keeping a shine on them is your kink) but the soft upper and tongue make a huge difference in comfort. Dig:

   Only reason I got rid of my last pair was I got a hole behind the toe cap on the outside surface. Not really fixable, so ultimately pitched them. But I wore them with that hole for like 2 years anyway.

   Those look nice - and at less than half the price of the utilikilt custom boots, a little more reasonable. I had a pair of Docs, once, which were very comfortable. Until I lost them. I imagine they still are comfortable, just not for me.

   I’ve had a couple pair of surplus combat boots. It’s only this most recent pair that hasn’t fit well. Regardless, I will need something with a steel toe come spring.

   And as for the fag bags - well, I don’t swing that way. I prefer what Johno refers to as the “manpurse.” You can see mine here. Click to view it in its proper color, black.

   Get the fugoutta here! Chrome bags are both almost comically durable AND satisfy your PVC kink. If you’re into that.

   I don’t know, the red trim is a little fey. I went with black on black. I thought about getting the Metropolis, but I didn’t want to seem, you know, pretentious. I don’t want people to think I’m projecting, “Hey, look at my fabulous bag.” So I went for the more discreet citizen.

   Gotta love the lifetime warranty, too.

   Hmmm I can’t say I was thinking “pretentious”, with aspriations to be such, with the Metropolis. I wanted maximum capacity but that still fit my frame. The Metro is perfect in that regard. The Kremlin was right out, though.

   Do you see many of them around? Not like around your house, as there aren’t (m)any people, but you know, in your broader travels. I haven’t seen any, ‘cept for a bike messenger in Chicago last summer.

   I should hope that the Kremlin is out, you commie bastard.

   I’ve seen a couple on the shoulders of non-messenger folk in DC. One of the guards where I work bought one on my enthusiastic recommendation. Another co-worker is thinking of getting their laptop bag - which is sadly not as cool as the messenger bag. But then, he’s a Remedy developer so what can you expect?

   And sorry for implying that red on black is fey, what I meant to say was that red on black on GeekLethal is fey.

    Ah, well, put it that way…

    You know, about the boots at the Utilikilt store…see the huge sole on those? If you wore those you’d be, what, like 7′5?

    And have a look at their faq- note that Mapgirl would, technically, be a cross-dresser in her Ministry-issue kilt.

    That is true, on both counts. I like the look of the upper part of those boots, but the sole is a little extreme.

    I don’t even know where to begin chiming in on this one.

    You guys do realize you’re chatting amiably about shoes, right? (I’m thinking of one of the plot devices on “Scrubs”, where the women, when needing to have a private conversation while men are around, start talking about shoe shopping. “Strappy sandals!” puts the men into a hypnotic state, and “Lace Bras!” brings them back out)

    Sorry I am late to the game catching up. But surely you know that this Minster ALREADY OWNS TWO? I bought them at the UK store in Seattle.

    Boots are key. As well as a belt. I got mine at Hot Topic for $5 on sale. Snivelly poor goth teens are good for something for once.

    The trick with my 17″ cut is finding boots that are cut to the knee. 14-hole Docs are ok. So are super gothy TUKs. I’d suggest New Rocks but most Ministers don’t really strike me as the type. I admit, I wear my Danners a lot with them, but they are a bit short.
